Will Gillis

MBio (Hons)

Will joined E3 Ecology in 2026, bringing prior experience in delivering Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments across a range of residential, educational, and renewable energy projects. His previous role involved undertaking feasibility assessments for potential development sites, identifying and scoping habitat bank opportunities, and progressing projects through to design-stage assessments and the preparation of Habitat Management and Monitoring Plans (HMMPs).

Where on-site delivery of the required 10% net gain was not achievable, Will supported clients in securing off-site mitigation solutions by liaising with habitat bank providers. Through this work, he developed strong skills in habitat mapping, botanical identification, technical report writing, and client communication. He is also a Full Member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (MCIEEM) and is qualified to undertake River Condition Assessments in support of BNG delivery.

Will holds a Master of Biology (MBiol Hons) from Newcastle University. His master’s research focused on honeybee ecology, investigating potential treatments for a pathogen affecting hive health and productivity.
