Dr Tony Martin

BSc PhD CMLI MCIEEM

Dr Tony Martin has over  35 years’ experience of providing specialist ecological input into multi-disciplinary assessment, design and management teams. He has particular experience at working creatively with landscape architects, planners and engineers, having worked alongside them in multi-disciplinary companies for over 20 years. In 2002 he established E3 Ecology Ltd as a specialist ecological consultancy.

He has a specialist knowledge of bat survey and conservation and has also provided call on ecological advice to English Nature, (now Natural England) Northumbria region, the Scottish Executive and the Heritage Lottery Fund.   He has developed the ‘Bark Boxes’ range of long-life bat and bird boxes.

Tony is now mainly working on farm and forest scale biodiversity enhancement and is particularly interested in approaches that combine sustainable commercial forestry and agriculture with significant biodiversity gains.  A research project enhancing  a Sitka plantation in the Scottish Borders was placed in Scotland’s Finest Woodlands’ competition in the small woodlands category.
